Hi Hank.. According to the prophetic record of the Bible, this will not happen (the end) and extinction is not a possiblity, nor even hinted at. But, the power which is evident in this universe of ours, such as ingrast has pointed out (gamma rays for exmaple) is not to be ignored. If indeed a Creator, created such power, then we have the assurance that Earth, His crown creation, has been established forever and ever. Well, that is what His word reveals to us, and I do believe it.... not blindly but by the evidence availablesmile

Psalms 78:69 He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that He established forever.

Extintion is an unavoidable event for each and every one of us as individuals, only we are so much prone to procastrinate, push it as a an unlikely event in a blurry future.

You are right, we should learn to face it without worries - easier said than done - and preserve our quality of life to the last second.

In a way, those professing some form of faith have it easier, only it cannot be adopted as a matter of convenience, at least in my case.

Being older than you, I have one major advantage. I will probably see the whole picture a little bit sooner.

With me, I don't think that it is a matter of convenience as much as a thurst for knowledge. The Truth will ultimately come to the surface.

Ha!.. probably so.. yet, according to Quantum Mechanics, the idea that when you reach, eternity, we will all be there too.. So, we all experience this, at the same time.. but of course, there is no time really! If I were to die now, according to this thought, I would see you already.. Or, visa versa.. Now, consider being on 'that side' of 'where ever' that is! Ben Franklin, King Tut and all the rest, already are speaking with ussmile..

but, we are stuck in 'time' at [this] moment... Hmmm... maybe ingrast could explain it better!...
