You do great research. I used to be able to spot Orion, the big dipper and the north star but that was before city lights started getting in the way.

This is unfortunate and happens here also. The good news is movements like the "Dark Skies Association" are gaining momentum and will probably succed. This is not because people in general will appreciate dark skies, but because proper lighting does make sense in economical and security terms.

What is the "Dark Skies Association" and why do you think it will succeed? That might be a topic worth writing an article about.

Greetings Wendell, thanks for visiting again.

Interestingly there may be some late news regarding black holes, I'll se if I can wrap up an article tiptoeing arround obscure (no pun intended) details.

And thanks for your interest in my country.

Definitely yes, the traditional political establishment dating over 170 years from the beginings of our nation had stagnated to the point of being basically unable to pull a viable response to the challenges of modern global and national conditions.

Though corruption is not presently the biggest issue - it exists of course - simply the lack of professionalism in administration has placed this country plentiful of natural resources, with no racial or etnic problems, a mild climate and deriorating but still relevant level of education, in a situation where the mean household income is less than U$3000 (yearly) and for 20% of households less than U$1500. This is official data available from government services through the Internet. 70,000 childs (in a population of less than 3: ) do not receive suficient nutrition to develope correctly neither get adecuate medical care. An this happens in a food producing country.

The incoming leftist (more closely related to the european socialist kind)coalition brings highly talented professionals to fill positions thorought the administration, balanced with an equally strong presence of veterans - many with former political careers in the old parties - fed up with the existing inoperance and lack of etics.

Bussiness organizations in turn, have had for a long time contacts and exchange of ideas with the coalition, and there is public agreement goals and guidelines are coincident.

The popular joyfull explosion that took place (I was there, have to see it to believe) minutes after the announcement by poll specialists of the election's outcome, spontaneous and massive in every street, was something absolutely without precedent, bearing witness to the hopes the majority is placing on the change.

We all have high (or desesperate if you want) hopes in the future though well aware the recovery will be long and hard.

Indeed, Hank..

Thanks Rodolfo, for taking the time to explain this! When I saw the TV coverage of the elections in your country, which by the way I saw on CCTV (Chinese news) as the American media hardly reported anything on this, they used the label "left"... I was thinking, oh no... another Chavez.. Maybe that is good too, I don't know for sure??....

From reading your explaination, seems that true progress will now come! So then, I am happy to see such a good result for you, and your fellow Uruguay[ians](?)... The explaination you offered is quite a good review, in my opinion! I am glad to see you have partcipated with such excitement! Heck, maybe I even saw you on the news clips and never even knew it... lol..

Black Holes!! Thanks for considering about writing more articles on those. They indeed are fascinating. These two articles really help to explain, what they are! You do a real fine job at explaining these, most difficult subjects, which even you 'science' types have a tough time understanding...!

Again, congratulations for a resounding victory for your country!... My best wishes for you...

Hank, Wendell:

Many thanks for your interest.

As said, the prospects are encouraging though the road will be a hard one.

Foreign debt has accumulated to amounts approaching the whole GNP, so you see payment services no matter how well negotiated will bear a heavy load on the economy and that is a major roadblock to prompt recovery.

And Dr. Vazquez, the future president, has little in common with other colleages in Latin America. Not meaning to underestimate others, "Tabaré" is a practicing oncologist of world renown who vows to keep seeing patients face on at least a few hours a week, something most doubt he will be able to comply in the end.

I doubt to have been registered on TV, for I do not use to attend political rallys. My children did, and brought home an unforgettable experience of popular spontaneous expression.

Let's hope faith placed on the change is not betrayed.

It looks as though the USA is trying to copy your country when it comes to servicing debt. If we are extremely lucky, both country's will pull out of it without too many scars.
