» priscilla36 - Statisis with larger classroom

I was wondering if anyone out there knows if a child with AS how successful they are in a large setting. My daughter has very high sensory issues and public school wants to put her in a class of 31 and 1 teacher all day. When I went and observe the classroom the children were crammed in like sardines and was very loud and lots of noise. Mined you when it started to get out of control the teacher would clapped 3 times and the students clapped 2 in return. I last all of 15 minutes and I don't have AS. Then how does the teacher work on pragmatics with the student because this is also taught at teachable moments as well. So my daughter would stick out like a sore thumb. I need some proof of why this isn't going to work in this setting. Someone out there please help. Minded you the DR. that works with my daughter went and spoke at mediation and told them why this isn't going to work and they are still not listen.
Thanks

IHi! Pricilla, I have a 14 yr. old son who attempted to start high shcool this year. It is so overcrowded he could not handle it. Even his ese classes were to disruptive since they seem to put behaviorial children in there also. He only managed to be in school for a total of 12 days since the school year began in Aug. I had to have his pychatrist put him in the homebound program which he likes a lot. but the problem is that she only put him in the program for 3 months till further evaluation. I don't think she will cooperate to keep him in it for the whole year . They keep pushing for you to get the school to provide what your child needs because it is the law. What they don't seem to understand is that with the funding that the school system has and the shortage of schools in are area to accomadate the tremendous growth that we've had its impossible for them to do anything about the environment is which my son has to indure at that school. I don't know what I'm going to do if the psycharist does not cooperate when i see her in Nov. I don't have the money for private school, I also believe that i have asperger syndron myself so homeschooling seems like I would't be able to teach him high school. Good luck and say a prayer for me. Karenn response to message posted by priscilla36:
