» andreajo13 - Your poor son!

Hi Barbara!
I have every sympathy for what you are going through right now! My son went through so much of the same stuff.

I have recently become member and assistant manager of an Autism Support Group and if you are interested email me and I will send you the URL.

As soon as MSN gets some of it's problems fixed I will be finishing a page on solutions to school problems that may be of assistance to you and the school.

Will be checking out the link you mentioned!

Wishing you and your son all the best!
Regards,

Hi Barbara andAndreajoo! I am new here and finding your messages was a ray of light. I have a 17 year old son who is failing grade 11 (BC, Canada) because of failure to focus on the task at hand. There is next to no help available at the high school level for children withAsperger'ss Syndrome and an almost complete lack of willingness to even try to understand the implications of living with this disorder. The teachers feel that since my son is obviously quite intelligent, he should be able to cope. We have had wonderful support and help from his school counsellor and many times it is the only thing that keeps us going...I would really appreciate any help from others who've "been there, done that" and might have some suggestions and ideas.

Barbe,

My greatest sympathies to you and your son. I know what it was like to be teased in school. I was lucky in one respect. Academics were my strong suit and I did particularly well in English and foreign languages. However, I did have problems socially and I was not particularly athletic growing up. I didn't have a lot of the problems others had growing up, but I always felt different in some way.
