» 2of3kids - stress and aspergers

My 5 year old has been diagnosed with Aspergers. He's been going to the PPCD program at his school for a couple months now everyday for 3 want him to go all day everyday. His headaches have now quadroupled and he's even gotten a couple bad migraines. At first he really wanted to go all day. now he doesn't and actually wants to stay home. When I ask him if he likes school he says yes. I think all day is just too long for him. We just had our ARD meeting and and before I knew the all day thing seemed to be stressing him out I agreed to the all day idea by Christmas time. That meeting was just a week and a half ago. His teacher really really wants an aid in the afternoon and won't get it if my son does just half a day. In my gut I think he just needs to go half a day, but I'm a little worried because I seemed so agreeable at the meeting at the whole day idea. He's now missed his 2nd day in a row becuase of illness(including migraine). Should I go in on monday and say we've decided to do just half a day? Or should I give it a week and then say it? How should I approach this whole thing. His pediatrician who I talked to yesterday is fully agreeing with me and says he'd be willing to put something in writing for me if that would help.Someone please help and tell me what steps to take.

Hello,
I myself have been diagnosed with asperger's syndrome, and personally I think it may be a gaood idea to start him off slowly at the school, a half day may make it harder for him to learn however... but what I think may be good to do is if he starts to get a migrane, let him go to the nurse and lie down, and maybe get him something to eat or drink. I think you are truely lucky that you found out he had asperers so early on and that you know already what to expect, I wasn't diagnosed til I was 19. what I think will help him alot is knowing that someones there to help and maybe that theres someone to talk to, granted migranes are hard to deal with but it may just be stress, not the aspergers syndrome.

if you ever need any help don't be afraid to email me at EnkeliDesigns@hotmail.com

Hope to talk to you soon
