» Debbie - Bath Salts/Essential Oils I got a recipe off the internet about how to make bath salts from essential oils. I need to know how long this concoction will keep. What is in the bath salts is; essential oil, Baby Oil and Epsom Salts. I am going to be making some salts for my family for Christmas and need to know how long it keeps and what the best way to keep it longer. This is a very interesting site on Suite 101 and I visit it often. Thanks for having such a wonderful place to visit and learn.Debbie Allen -- posted by Debbie » pixie1980 - Hi Debbie Bath salts are very easy to make and are made even more wonderful with the addition of pure essential oils, as opposed to fragrance oils.In my book, "Secret Potions, Elixirs & Concoctions" (Lotus Press 1999)I have included many bath salt type recipes including Chakra salts. Visit http://www.miczak.com for more information about the book. It also contains precautions that should be taken. The great thing about bath salts, is they will keep for a very long time with no refrigeration. At times, especially when essential oils are used, they are better after curing a few weeks. The only problem is they tend to evaporate if you fail to keep a very tight lid on them and/or store them in a hot area of the house. Always store in a cool, dark place. I'm very glad you enjoy my topic! The Wellness area has many great areas like mine. -- posted by pixie1980 » pixie1980 - Hi Trayse I'm glad you enjoyed the article and will make the recipe I gave. Please do post your experience of using it here!I have very dry skin and in Winter it's just awful... it seems to make me feel very cold as well. I was told dry skin allows more heat to excape from the body! The pure base/carrier oils and essential oils have done wonders for me in Winter.. the aromaticness is also wonderful. -- posted by pixie1980 » juliame - Re: oils saving "winter skin" In response to oils saving "winter skin" posted by Trayse:HY! I am Julia and i want to tell you that instead of salt-baths you can also use products from Aslaskin which are good against aging, take care of all skin types (dry, normal and oily) and it is also cheap. I had the same troubles as you and now, using these products, i dont have them anymore. For more details visit this link: http://www.aslaskin.com/gp_forte.aspx -- posted by juliame » kaldeamorey - Rock hard bath salts! I too make bathsalts with essential oils. The problem I am having is that since I moved to New Mexico, all my salts turned to blocks of salts... I've done everything as I use to yet they are not loose like when I made them elsewhere... What can I do to correct this problem. As for staying power, I've never had any remain in their jars more than a month yet since salt is a natural persurvitive, it would probably last many, many years!-- posted by kaldeamorey » reliv6 - dry skin help I have come to understand that dry skin is helped more from the inside out. I used to have dry skin and my children have had even worse dry skin conditions until we took a look at what we were puting into our bodies. We no longer have issues with it and have even seen people with such dry sking that they crack and bleed also having great results. I'd love to help. reliv6@msn.com-- posted by reliv6 » dry - Re: dry skin help In response to dry skin help posted by reliv6:Hi all, I just wanted to say making coconut oil balt salt or coconut oil sugar scrub is wonderful for my dry skin. -- posted by dry
