I really appreciated this very informative article. Can any of the techniques be easily adapted for home use? I saw an old herbal still recently but was told you need a permit to use one.

Glad you found the article informative! Yes, many of the tecgniques can be scaled down and used a home, especially the solvant extraction. Vodka works very good for extracting the scent/oils from flowers.

I thought that it was alright to own a still. I know that many states want to prevent people from making moon-shine. If it's quite small, I wouldn't think you'd get in troble for owning one for herbal distalations.
