» feistyfemale56 - Timely article Marie,Thanks for an article timed just right for the season. I think a fresh scent in the house might help to dispel some of these feelings of cabin fever I've been having lately. Where do you suggest purchasing the essential oils? -- posted by feistyfemale56 » biogardener - Warning I just want to sound a warning here. Most people do not realize how potent aromatherapy oils are. They splash them on like cologne when all they need may be one single drop.I have a horror story to tell about that. A few years ago, I was practicing the organ in my church one Saturday evening in preparation for the Sunday morning service when I suffered severe breathing problems. If I had not gotten out of the church immediately, I would probably have gone into respiratory failure. Turned out that a group who were renting the downstairs hall of the church were burning pure frankincense essential oil, loads of it. They went through a lifetime supply of frankincense in a couple of months, using it once a week. It took me several months to get over the effect of that one episode. I have since then researched the effects of frankincense, and it can indeed cause respiratory failure. It is supposed to use only sparingly and with a physician's guidance. -- posted by biogardener » pixie1980 - Re: Timely article In response to Timely article posted by feistyfemale56:You are right Deb and with all the snow and colds going around it has been quite helpful in my neck of the woods. There are many essential oil producers / sellers onlinene and off, where ever you go look for organic steam distilled types. Traute is right and I have written a while ago a full article on using essential oils in moderation. I use frankincense along with myrrh when ever there is sickness in the house and it has been a major part of keeping me well I believe. In my case, I can not afford even a simple cold. -- posted by pixie1980 » biogardener - Further to the Frankincense Further to the excessive use of frankincense, I should tell you the end of the story. Only ha handful of people were exposed to it in the services, because attendance was sparse. The only person who was exposed to it on a regular basis was the lady herself. She suddenly discontinued the church rental because she fell deathly ill, and doctors were unable to diagnose what was wrong with her. Even now, several years later, no one knows what is wrong with her, except that she has an unexplained medical disability.A little bit of education could have saved her from invalidism. Just because a remedy is natural does not mean that you do not need to treat it with respect. -- posted by biogardener
