» phoehne - Scented Letters

There was a time when I would have thought this a wonderful idea. Now I only hope no one sends me a scented letter.

It is difficult enough trying to avoid all of the people who wear perfumes and colognes, the perfume samples in magazines, and the household products that are scented.

Some of us are allergic to many of these scents. There are a number of different reactions from headaches, sore throats, to actual sickness. The number of people having bad reactions to scents is growing as the scents and chemicals invade every part of our lives.

Having your personal scent is a fun idea, but be aware not all of your friends may welcome it.

» pixie1980 - That is part true...

People should reserve letters with scent to those they know well. At the same time this article and topic is on using essential oils, not perfumes or perfume oils made of chemicals. I am highly allergic / sensitized to commercial perfumes and can not be near them yet I can use high Aromatherapy grade essential oils without a problem. There is a difference and I caution lumping essential oils into "scents" as people may miss out on a potential alternative to chemical based perfume or aid to their health even via their use.

I have a number of articles on the confusion over essential oils and perfumes, one includes:

* Holistic Perfumes, a New Gimmick?.

& another is * Phantom Essential Oils.

Thanks for the referral to the other articles. It helps me understand better.

So, a question, if a person using an essential oil as a perfume were to sit down next to me, I would be able to smell the scent, but I would not have adverse reactions?
