» Renie_Burghardt - Christmas Recipes Hey there, Bertha, thank you for the neat recipes. We used to do taffy pulling when my kids were little, eons ago, and it was a lot of fun. I love the molasses cookie recipe, and will try it. I'm doing some Christmas baking this week, so will pick up some molasses today, while in town.Enjoyed the article and recipes. Although it's still sunny and nice here (mid-50s,) the forecastor says it will get colder next week, and even a chance for light snow for Chriustmas! We shall see. Have a wonderful holiday with your fazmily, Bertha. You are lucky they are so close! Take care. Renie -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Red - Mmm!!! Bert,All of your recipes sound delicious. Daisy Turner's molasses cookies is almost identical to the one that Grandma used. I have it in my recipe book but haven't made them in a long time. That recipe certainly brought back memories. I can remember standing in front of the cookstove, watching Grandma take her delicious molasses cookies out of the oven. Mmm!!! I have always wondered how to make popcorn balls and now I know. Thanks for sharing that one. I think the boys and I will make a popcorn snowman while they are off on winter vacation. They will love it and it gives us something to do. They love baking and doing crafts. I would love to see more of your mountain recipes. I know you are a fantastic cook and plan on trying these ones. Take care, my friend. Hope you had a terrific Christmas. By the way, my ISP is down. I can receive e-mails but cannot send. It went down on Saturday, so that is why you haven't heard from me. Take care. I hope to be in touch soon. -- posted by Red » Mountain_lady - Re: Christmas Recipes In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Thanks Renie, I'm glad you like the recipes. Yeap, from what I gather, we are suppose to have some low temps. Glad we have that nice wood stove to cuddle up to. Take care and have a wonderful Christmas. -- posted by Mountain_lady » Mountain_lady - Re: recipes In response to message posted by Dubh_Sidhe:Yeap, very tasty, especially with a cup of hot cocoa on a cold night...hugs -- posted by Mountain_lady » Mountain_lady - Re: These sound yummy, Bertha In response to message posted by jerrib:Hi Jerri, those were the days, weren't they? I loved those nights when the wind was blowing and it was cold outside, we would make candy or popcorn balls and sit around the fire drinking hot cocoa. And those parched peanuts were fantastic. Lots of good memories there..hugs... -- posted by Mountain_lady » Mountain_lady - Re: Mmm!!! In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary...I wondered what was going on up on your end of the continent. Down here it is cold...just plain ole clear skies and wind. Perfect for staying indoors and making cookies. I'll try and get more of my old tried and true recipes online this coming year. I love those old recipes. Might be a culture change for you though...most of these are just plain ole southern eatin'....Take care and thanks for coming by..hugs -- posted by Mountain_lady
