I thought the same thing but then I guess back in those days it was nothing to walk a few miles for just something like tobacco. I remember my mama telling me that she and daddy "stripped" cane the day after they married for a bucket of molasses. Sounds stupid to us but to them back them, that bucket of molasses was like 25 pounds of sugar to us. And those were the good ole days....hugs
