Renie you will have to have your son take you there. Remember too, not only diamonds are found there. Other precious gems have been discovered as well. The Parks personel are so helpful. They will instruct you on what to look for and very patiently go through the buckets and buckets of rocks that you bring to them.
I love fish but I have to admit that catfish is my favorite. I've never learned to fly fish but they say that is the best way to fish for trout. I've watched many fishermen fly fish and envy them. It's a very graceful form of fishing. Glad you liked the article. Take care, we are all fine down here. Very busy with the garden though.

I know what you mean by forgetting what sunshine is like. All last week it rained but our weekend has been fantastic. We still haven't had to turn on the AC. I wonder what June is going to be like? Take care....

LOL Virginia...I'm no good at directions. Just find I-40 and go south. Then look for a plowed field where you see alot of people sifting dirt. Remember when our mothers scolded us for getting so dirty playing in the dirt? Wonder what they would say about us as adults playing in the dirt. I can imagine...

Hi Anne, yeap, there is a diamond field in the US! Lots of other attractions also. Stay tuned and I'll take you there...the link I gave takes you to the Arkansas site where you can see all that Arkansas has to offer. Thanks for dropping by, see you again soon....

» jerrib - This brought back memories

of searching for agates on a beach near Port Angeles, WA, when I was a kid. It's a private beach now.

This is amazing! How fun! I could get into digging in the dirt again! But I'm not really one who's very patient, so I'd probably not find anything.

The area sounds really exciting: the town, the dig, the fishing. I have spent most of my time in northern AR when there - this would really be a fun place to visit.

Hi Jerri, nothing like digging in the dirt on a lazy summer afternoon. Especially if you find a nice shinny rock!! Thanks for stopping by and yes, by all means, next time you visit Arkansas, think about playing in that dirt....

What a great story Sis. I think that maybe one of these days me and you should just visit this mine and see if we can find our fortune. Keep those stories coming. They are wonderful.

I'll remind you of that this summer. Wouldn't that be fun. I haven't "played" in the dirt in a very long time. One little rule, Linda, leave the worms alone, *grin*. Love ya and big hugs to ya...

Hi Bertha,
What a fascinating article. I had no idea there were diamonds in Arkansas. Actually, it never occurred to me that there were diamonds anywhere in the US. Great reading -- thanks!

Hi Tina, nice to see you. Quite a surprise wasn't it? I don't think very many people do know about the diamonds found in Arkansas and not only diamonds but rubies and other precious gems have been found in that same field. Oh I would give anything to find a ruby someday. I love rubies, they are my birthstone. Of course if I found a ruby and a few small diamonds to go with it, I would be next to heaven. Hummm, wonder when Robert has a vacation. Might take Maggie, our dog, with us. She loves digging in dirt. I could sit in a chair and let her do the digging. Might be a good idea....See you later...Hugs
