Peru's Texacoatl Indians keep their cars in good running condition longer than any other indigenous people in South America, according to Technology Review. The journal reported that they mix their gasoline and oil with guazcal, a medicine derived from the guazacahotl plant.

I heard that the guazecahotl plant is the same Chenopodium. Have you heard of this?
