» Barbara Bell - Turn-of-the-Century American Architecture

Patrick, please write a little about the Arts & Crafts movement in architecture. The bungalow style, Prairie, Spanish mission, etc., are among my favorites. I live in a city that has a rich heritage of homes and buildings from this era, and some well-known architects and designers worked here.

Thanks!

» parti - coming soon!

hello Barbara!

Thanks for the post regarding turn-of-the-century American architecture. I also enjoy the styles you mention, particularly the bungalow and craftsman styles. Look for a continuation of the 'style guides' in the coming weeks with a focus on these and other early 20th c. styles and design movements.

thanks again!

» Happy - I have an architectural design question.

I have an architectural design question.

I live in a two story 1881 Victorian house. There is a 36" high railing all around the covered porch.

My question is : If I want to put a balustrade on the second floor, (the roof of the porch), would it be the same height?
