In response to message posted by bici:Hi Barbara, I'm not sure exactly how this firm was chosen but typically for a project this huge there is an international design competition in which firms submit their proposed design and a panel of jurors picks the winning design. I'm guessing that was the case with this firm and this project. As far as controversy the only thing I've heard is that some Egyptians weren't too happy about the pricetag although donors covered most of the building costs. Alia -- posted by AliaHas
