Arabic & Persian Authors - Recommendation Needed

Hi!I am a 30 years girl loving reading, reading and ...reading.
I have enjoyed a lot the works of Tawfiq el Hakim (Fate of a Cockroach is just awesome)and Naguib Mahfouz and would like to explore the Arabic and Persian literature. Could you recommend me some great authors/books? Something what is really "a must". Thanks a lot!!!
