» ryder99 - Possible Air Bladder Infection

I have an 11 inch albino tiger oscar that is just over a year old. In the past week he has stoped eating, and the last few days he has been floating at the top of the aquarium. He actually has to strugle to swim to the bottom. A guy at the pet store called it an air bladder infection and recommended a product called Melafix. I have been using the product for three days now with no results. Does anyone have any more suggestions?

Hi Ryder The proper name for that disease is called swim bladder disease. What you were told is one of many possible ways to cure it.Not that many get cured I would continue on with the treatments for a few more days and see what goes on.Possibly bring up the temputure to around 82 and add a bit of aquarium salt to the tank.I have seen this help on a few occasions. The disease affects there bladder and they have a hard time to swim and as it geys worse to even balance. I wish you all the luck in curing your Oscar. Thxs Doug
