» QuartzNH - My first apartment

I'm so excited....I went to look at an apartment yesterday....when I needed an apartment the most...there it was...and it has everything I need. and and few extras. The funny thing was...it's the same apartment my father had 10 years ago. You know you've been in a small town too long when you get your father's old apartment. It was just weird how everything just fell in place. Any suggestions or ideas about having a first apartment..I'm open!

Hi,

I'm glad you found your very own first apartment. The first thing to do is make notes of any damage or repair work that needs to be done.
Next prepare a budget for each month so you'll know approx what monthly expenses will total.
Make a list of all the things you will need for your new place and have a little housewarming party.
Good luck, I hope you enjoy your new pad.

J.

And be prepared for all the little costs you never think about outside of rent -- water, electricity, groceries, insurance, security, newspaper delivery, pet deposit, key/remote deposit, first month and last month's rents, security deposit, etc. Look in your local newspapers for specials on towels, blankets, storage containers, etc. Summer is the best time to get these dormroom-type items on sale.
Good luck with your apartment!

I have done all those things you've suggested. The heat, hot water and electrity is included...along with trash pick-up...plowing...the lawn. It's has everything I"ve been looking for. I can have a cat. it doesn't cost extra to keep one there. The sec. Deposit wasn't too bad. I have had several people give me the things I need for an apartment...like a couch, tables, chairs, dishes, etc. And I havent' asked for ANYTHING. I'm so fortunate to have friends and family that care about me. The rent isn't too bad...actually it's great...less than half of my paychecks for a whole month...I get payed bi-weekly. I can't believe how lucky I am to have found this place!
