» Carol Wallace - What a trip!

I went to Mod Haus and felt like I was looking at the furniture of my life. If we didn't have it at home, my dad had it at the funeral home - especially the Danish Modern chairs and sofas. But the funniest thing was when we got to office furniture. My husband is moving to a different office at the U and was speculating this morning about taking his furniture or using what was already in his office. And as I scrolled through the pictures, there was his furniture. I told him he HAD to take it - they are classics!

Although to be honest, I don't much care for the furniture. Or most of the accessories. But I did like the jewelry. In fact I still have some left over from then that I always liked too well to get rid of.

I just discovered an antiques shop in the neighborhood that specializes in mid-century modern. Sadly, they are not on the 'Net. But the visit inspired this article!

Barbara, Mid-Century is so popular now. I guess all the Baby Boomers are trying to recreate their childhoods. Actually, I'm with Carol; I don't really like the furniture. It reminds me of doctors' offices. lol But (now I know you're going to be shocked) I do like the dishes--Russel Wright, Eva Zeisel, and others. And I'm actually starting to like the colors--chartreuse? Yes. So who know, maybe next I'll like the furniture, too.

Enjoyed the links, too.

» jerrib - Memorites of my childhood

dwell in this era. Enjoyed looking at the items but I have to agree it's not my favorite, either. Did enjoy the memories back in time, though!

» Sunbear - Yes, I was there too. . .

. . .growing up in that era. Ah-h-h I can feel my beard turning gray(er) as I read your interesting article, Barbara.

Well. . .all I can say is ". . .still crazy after all these years."

Thanks for an interesting article. Now I know in what "niche" my childhood "stuff" is stored.

Best wishes and thanks for a great article.

Tom
