True meaning of Ceorl?
This archived discussion is "read only".
» yeomanrycavalry - Ceorl and Yeoman Contrary to what one member posted, a ceorl does have a wergeld (recompensation for the murder of a person rather than having a blood feud.)The peasants wergeld is 200 shillings, nowhere near as much as a nobleman with 1200 shillings. Houseceorl = Houseceorl = Huscarl = Charles = Churl = Carl = Houseservant = Yeoman??? (any comments would be appreciated). -- posted by yeomanrycavalry » yeomanrycavalry - Re: Ceorl and Yeoman In response to Ceorl and Yeoman posted by yeomanrycavalry:Also this may the forebear of the yeomen of the guard since the days of King Sven. -- posted by yeomanrycavalry
