» biogardener - How about Bingley?

You have been with us for less than a year, so this is the first birthday which you have shared with us. I hope that it is a happy one.

For those of you reading this message, Robert shared with me that he was a member of a discussion group once where everyone had to adopt the literary name. He chose the name of Bingley Austen after the novel "Pride and Prejudice," using Jane Austen's surname and the name of one of the characters in the book as given name. Pride and Prejudice is one of the few English novels which I have read. It was on the list for grade 12 literature in Manitoba, the only grade which I took in Canada. I am much better versed in German literature. I never read English for pleasure. Reading in my mother tongue gives me much greater pleasure.

I enjoy your topic of Ancient Biographies, Robert. My grade 7 and 8 Latin teacher awakened the love of antiquity in me. He even inspired me to pursue the study of languages and philology as a career.

In response to message posted by biogardener:

Thank you for the good wishes Traute. (I'm not cheating, honest. It's already my birthday here in Jakarta. Suite101 just hasn't caught up yet.)
