» Barbara Bell - Visiting Deauville Nine years ago, as a recent widow, I took my mother to Paris. After a week there, we rented a car and drove through Brittany and Normandy. One day, coming from Honfleur, we approached Deauville needing very badly to find a restroom. The town was very quiet (this was September) and we smiled at the "horse crossing" signs on the street corners. We came upon the largest and most beautiful hotel on the waterfront, and decided to take advantage of their facilities and also to look longingly at the elegant surroundings. Imagine our delight when the doorman came and opened our car doors for us, not the least bit concerned that we had no luggage to carry in, and directed us with a smile to the "toilette"! It gave us such a feeling of being among the bon ton! -- posted by Barbara Bell
