Gregg,

One of my goals in life is to actually see one of the Perseids meteor showers. Haven't done that yet, but I can read excellent articles like yours to find out about it.

I have you on the Education & Reference Community of Interest page as the Featured Feature Writer for August. You've done a great job here and are very much appreciated.

Keep up the good work!

Hi Sharon...

And thanks a bunch!

This is a good year for ya to try for those Perseids. Important things to remember are to watch from a dark location, wait until after midnight to start, be comfy! and the best/most Perseids will happen from about 2am until dawn.

It's also important to realize that they don't fall, or streak across the sky in a steady stream. There will be periods of inactivity, and there will be periods of "there's one!" "Look! Another one over there!"

...lie back and relax and don't focus on the sky so much as let the sky come to you. Meteors will appear all over the sky...

...noticed the Hinkely thing in your signature. My wife and I are originally from Ohio, and for a few years we were sellin' stuff at arts and crafts fairs around the state. We did the buzzard fair in Hinkley one year ... and we are bird watchers ... or were. Just like meteor showers, we don't do them so much, focusing on wildflowers now...

Hope ya can catch some Perseids...
