» friersonc - after reading the article on loss of smell as an early detection

after reading the article on loss of smell as an early detection of this disease I could not help but to comment on this topic. 2 years ago my mother died of this disease > Several years before she was medically diagnosed she loss her sense of smell. She would forget to use various colognes, deodorants and perfumes and would mentioned that since she could not smell them, she would forget whether she had used them or not.
We thought this was unusal , buy did not know who to response except to assist here with the application of such when necesssary.

» Karen_Largent - Carolyn, Your post was so interesting. I frankly had never even

Carolyn, Your post was so interesting. I frankly had never even heard of the loss of the sense of smell as being an early sign until I researched for the article. Now that you look back, I am sure there were other warning signs as well. It's a shame that we learn these things too late.

» Gram_2000 - sense of smell

I have lost my sense of smell. I miss it. I worry about it as I can't tell even when my dog smells.I am older and have incontinence problems and am afraid of offending people so I don't have many people to my home.
