Welcome Karen to Suite 101! Your first article is great and I wish you continued success in all your endeavors. My Papa has Alzheimers and you are correct when you said that a head injury could double the risks of developing AD. Papa was just beginning to show the signs of AD when, in 1994 he was involved in a car accident which resulted in a head injury, and I saw immediately how this changed his health. He has not been the same since and as of this day, I know that soon there will be a call telling me to come to help make his final arrangements. It is a sad and terrible illness that steals so much from families. And everyone in the family needs support. I have already started the greiving process myself. Yes, those with AD are people too -- for they are us!

I am looking forward to learning more about AD and all that you have to share with us. I know that it is too late for my Papa, but it is not too late for me and others to learn how we can help ourselves and each other. Yes, let us find joy in every day and to pass along some of it too -- to others! smile

There's much to learn about Alzheimer's, and
you certainly explain things well. The links
are terrific, too. I especially found the
Caretaker's Handbook to be interesting.
I will look forward to reading your future
articles!

Best wishes to you....
