» etamar - Dubstar - STARS

Dubstar's "Stars" is an especially moving piece, somewhat of a ballad, and David Reid describes its virtues perfectly. Yet there's something else I perceive in this song - and maybe you can help me there - I'd like to get some of your comments on this:

For me, this song describes in painfully sharp colors someone who is living in a world of self-enforced retiredness from society: "is it asking too much of my vacant smile and my laugh and lies that bring them?" Obviously, not the most sociable person would say this.

The rest of the song describes the inevitable consequences: "as the stars are going out... and the friends are all but gone..."

"For my life, my God, I'm singing" sounds to me more like the cry of an in(anti?)social, lonely person to his god.

Am I seeing this in too gloomy colours?...
