I enjoyed your article, are the stamps in place of war bonds?

Itr's a good thing I quit being a professor because I don't think I could possibly be more absent-minded, Did you notice that I made this the featured article this week in the Garden center?

I think community gardens are a wonderful idea, not only because of the food you can raise but because so many city people would otherwise have so little opportunity to garden - and so would miss one of life's greater joys.

Thanks Carol,

We too think community gardens are a wondrous idea.
They need not be too formal.
An arrangement between a dozen neighbours, pooling vegetables and fruit grown works well too.

We lifted your graphic and added it to the article.

thanks,

You're quite welcome to the graphic. ;-)

It so happens I'm writing about memorial and freedom gardens for a magazine here right now and just got done with the freedom garden section - which is all about community gardens, really.
The ones I've seen here remind me of a patchwork quilt made of of little individual plots - each has the caretakers personal signature on it in the way it is planted and kept - such a wonderful idea for cities where otherwise you'd only have a little balcony and a container or two.

In response to message posted by CarolWallace:

Hi Carol,

from your writings, do you have any pictures of the patchwork quilt effect?

Even without the events of 11th September, community gardens we feel are the future of gardening in over populated towns and cities.

Everything old is new again smile
