foe something this old you'd think there would be more written about it in books.
Sowing seeds is a good tip.
Does Glenbrook's list still have this species on it?

» Mary_Wise - Very interesting article Gary

My Christmas gifs are gone along with all other email files :-(( Thought we had saved them but oh well thems the breaks. When you say in your article that the bulbs need a dry summer rest? that flies in the face of all I know about liliums(which isnt a great deal)Mine are in a pot do I dry it out??? or water occasionally ???

» Gary - watering

Hi Mary et al,

As they come into active growth, do not let them dry off. After flowering, as the foliage begins to brown, then watering may be eased off.

Water them occasionally, as they are in pots and not a large scree, you may have to water them more often than I.

Does your potting medium have about a third by volume of peat added?

» Gary - potting mix

Hi Mary,

always try to add sand for drainage to potting mix, Liliums seem to demand good drainage.

As a general rule of thumb, add peat too.
