I feel elated today because after suffering a bad rash all over my body except for my hands and face I have finally discovered that I have become allergic to coffee. My body did give me the warning signs but because I enjoy my coffee so much I chose to ignore the warnings. When I started drinking real coffee I could feel my heart beating faster. After becoming a regular coffee drinker this phase passed - only to be followed by the next - 2-3 weeks of profuse underarm perspiration. Again I failed to make the connection to my significant increase in coffee intake. But for the past 3 weeks this rash has developed, and after browsing the web I am 99% certain that I have become allergic to coffee and addicted to caffeine. I say addicted to caffeine because not only have I started coffee drinking habits but also found Red Bull - a caffeine and taurine stimulant. Other habits which confirm my 'addiction' is the fact that I have started to drink diet coke in between coffee - again laden with caffeine. I feel so glad that I can go to my physician tomorrow and tell him that I know what this terrible itchy rash is. It is such a relief for me - and I wanted to share this just in case anybody else has been suffering the same misery and is unable to trace the cause.
