» bridget1 - Scottish Favourites

Such a disappointment to hear this is your last column. I subscribe and enjoy it every time. I was just ready to ask a research question too. Can you tell me where I can find the lyrics and any history about a song (I think old and traditional) called The Skye Boat Song ("Speed bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing . . . "? I enjoy Scottish music old and new, and also the Canadian Celtic revival centred in Cape Breton and Nova Scotia.

» Ireland - Irish affinity

Irish people always feel an affinity with the Scottish - we also pick ourselves up after knocks and we've had many of them!
Have enjoyed your articles. Sorry to hear you will not be contributing again but good luck with your book.
