» Tracy Rose - I can relate

Interesting article. I can relate for the most part about bad memories of gym class. It wasn't until later in High School that I took a class called Individual Sports that I actually learned something and had fun doing it. Competetive sports were definitely not my thing. It's still true today as I prefer weight lifting and the treadmill over team sports.

On the other hand, my son is in first grade and is getting a whole lot out of gym class. So maybe they have revised it enough to make it helpful to young kids. He is learning healthy vs. unhealthy practices and his personal ability and coordination have improved greatly over the past 2 years.

I hope they continue to improve the programs rather than cut them. Some kids are not exposed to this at all at home and it is a good thing to get in the habit of early in life.
