I have just completed a 25 video ("Philip Reid And The Slaves Who Built The Capitol." I found that 50% of the workforce that built the capitol during its seven decade construction were slaves and that a slave (Philip Reid) supervised the bronze casting of the statute of Freedom atop the Capitol Dome.I established The Philip Reid Recognition Project and a web site (www.philipreid.org). I invite other scholars to look into this part of our history and join me in giving these heroic ancestors, including Philip Reid, the recognition they are due: videos, articles, books(?), letters to editors-- the whole nine yards.
