» Dee4w3 - What should I do now?

Hi, my name is Dee. I have been diagnosed with ADD by two different doctors and both put me on Ritalin and both times I became very ill. I have hypersensitivity and lost much weight and developed a tick. I'm not wanting to go through these times again and felt the doctors didn't understand this so I slowly weened myself off the meds with the help of my family physician. Well, here I am with ADD and am not on medication and am not in cognitive therapy and I'm suffering for it. The reason I think is because my self-esteem is so low I just can't be bothered to help myself. Like I've just given up now and though each day is excrutiating, so what and who cares. I'm a 36 year old female who is single and pretty much each night when I get home from work, I am tired and do have a boyfriend but I feel he has NPD which isn't a new dilema for me being my self-esteem is so low, I'm an easy target. Not much of anything goes on in my life. I smoke cigarettes which if I had some healthy self-esteem, I might be able to quit. I've taught myself how to write for the last few years being on discussion boards because I was getting picked on so have come a long way and done so by myself which I should feel good about but just don't.
If anyone is around, I wouldn't mind some feedback and to have someone to chat with.
thanks

HelloDeee,
Sorry to hear that you're so down right now. I too haven't been able to handle any of the stimulant type medications. Finding the right med. and correct dosage can often be a long frustrating ordeal. Have you talked to your doctor about trying a non-stimulant type of medication for ADD? I tried wellbutrin which did help for a while, it's mostly for depression but can help with ADD. If you want to talk, try going to http://addcommunitycenter.com I tend to live at the chatroomom that's open every night from 8 p.m. to midnight eastern standard time Vanessa
