» Fort_Spunky - Traveling around Texas
Hi Joy,I've enjoyed these articles about great places to see in Texas. You are so right about the variety. I'm a native Texan but there are lots of places I haven't been to yet--would love to see the Big Bend area. And what is it about those Marfa lights? Got to do that someday.
Thanks for the virtual tour.

Oh you will love Big Bend, Linda! It's just indescribable! The wide open spaces are so untamed and make you feel like you've stepped into another world. It's definitely worth the drive. When we visited it was winter and I believe a lot more pleasant than in those killing hot summer months.
There's lots of little out of the way places in Texas that are nice to visit too. I may do an article on some of them someday.
What is your favorite vacation spot in our wonderful state?

In response to Re: Traveling around Texas posted by JButler:Joy, I have a special fondness for the Hill Country, particularly Marble Falls, because that was a stop on our honeymoon. The Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls with it's old fashioned diner style was a great place for breakfast. I also like Comfort, a small town with antique stores and lots of charm. I can't think of the other little towns around there right now, but I liked them all. Yep, I'd like to go back there soon. I like to travel the off-the-beaten-path areas and enjoy the slower pace.

I agree with you, Linda, about the Hill Country, and the slower pace. That area is almost like stepping into another time. I love Wimberley and Bandera. They're full of old-time charm and I can imagine they would make great honeymoon places. It's been many years since I was in Marble Falls and I've never heard of Comfort, only Point Comfort, which is on the coast. I dearly love the Big Bend area but I also love the beaches too, especially Galveston. I guess I could say I have lots of happy memories associated with many places in Texas.
