» ttcweb - Re: Re: Re: help-any info on luteal phase defect please In response to Re: Re: help-any info on luteal phase defect please posted by kellyinbama:If you in fact are ovulating on day 18, that still gives you a 14 day luteal phase. That is very normal. However, it is very possible to get a "false positive" with an OPK. An OPK only measures the hormone that is released that triggers ovulation. Many women will release the hormone, get a positive OPK test, and still not have ovulated. Also, when you get the positive, you should ovulate in about 12 to 36 hours, not "right away". Don't throw the tests out the window, but "double check" the test results by learning how to chart your fertility signs. Charting can either confirm or deny that you are ovulating when the test says you will, but it can also let you know exactly how long your luteal phase is, if you are producing fertile quality cervical fluid, or if there might be a hormonal inbalance that could be keeping you from conceiving. If you and your husband both tested normal, why were you seeing an RE? Which tests were performed for you? What did the RE diagnose? Why were the injectables prescribed? Is the excess facial hair the only PCO symptom you have? Have you had your thyroid tested? How long ago did you see your RE? Did you see an OB/GYN prior to seeing the RE? You also mentioned taking supplements. Which supplements are you taking, and what are the ingredients in them? Are you also taking vitamins? If so, what brand(s) and and in what amounts are the vitamins/minerals? Have you ever used Depo-Provera (the shot) as birth control prior to trying to conceive? Obviously I am asking more questions, but they are necessary questions. At this point, I really don't know what to tell you besides learn to chart your fertility. Hopefully, your answers will give me an idea of what to suggest next. -- posted by ttcweb
