To Whom It May Concern:

I am attaching information about IBM's Native American Project View
program, which is being held in Albquerque, New Mexico, on January 3-5,
2001. Your assistance in helping publicize this outstanding opportunity
via your website or newspaper would be greatly appreciated.

As always, it will be a 2 1/2 day event which involves bringing together
students/graduates and IBM hiring managers for an informational fair and
interviewing opportunities. All students expenses, including airfare,
hotel and meals are provided by IBM to accepted applicants.

Traditionally, this program has targeted upcoming and recent graduates
interested in permanent employment. This year's event has been expanded to
include second semester sophomore and upperclassmen who are searching for
co-op and internship opportunities. Please share this information with
your peers and the student networks on your campus--it is an outstanding
opportunity.

This past spring, the Oklahoma Indian Times wrote a full-page article about
the program. This article is located at: http://www.okit.com/jobs/ibm.htm

Please feel free to contact me at the number below. The Program Manager
for Project View is William Lawrence; his phone number is 919-850-1152.
Thank your for your assistance. And best wishes to the students for a
great school year!

ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICA PROJECT VIEW FLYER

(See attached file: 2000 NAPV.gif)(See attached file: 2000 NAPV.pdf)

This year, we chose to use the photo's of IBM'ers on our flyer--so students
could get a feel for the native employees at IBM. As always, I am humbled
by the quality of the American Indian professionals at IBM. Let me take
you on a small "tour" of the flyer so you can get a sense of what I am
talking about. In the upper left hand corner is a photo of Kate Goes In
Center, a Sikangu Lakota from South Dakota, who was honored by the Native
Diversity Network of IBM Employees (INDN) for 25 years of service to IBM in
1998. This picture was taken during her honoring song. Kate works for the
Printing Systems Division in Boulder, Colorado, as a Graphics Artist.

In the upper left corner is another "IBM Quarter Century Club" member,
Michael Avritt (San Filipe Pueblo) from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Michael
has been a national leader in AISES as a former chairman of the board of
directors and IBM Executive-on-Loan. Michael is currently working in the
Safety group for the Printing Systems Division in Boulder, Colorado. He is
shown with Sandra Begay-Campbell, who recently stepped down as Executive
Director of AISES.

In the lower left is Dwight Gourneau, who is Turtle Mountain Chippewa and
retired from IBM's Rochester, Minnesota, site. Dwight is a Mechanical
Engineer and also served as a former Chairman of the Board of Directors and
Executive-on-Loan to AISES while employed with IBM. Dwight is also an Ely
S. Parker Award Recipient, which is AISES' highest award. Since retiring,
Dwight has been an active in creating educational and economic
opportunities for Indian country.

In the lower right is group shot of some of IBM's latest native hires.
Sandra One Feather, Oglala Lakota and Dine', is employed as an account
manager, for Software and Delivery Fulfillment in Boulder, Colorado. She
is president of the Colorado Professional Chapter of AISES for 1999-2000.
Sandra has degrees from the University of Minnesota, Fort Lewis College and
Northern Arizona University. Seated in the center is Pamela Garcia, who
working in Human Resources and Staffing for Tivoli Systems in Austin,
Texas. Pam is San Felipe Pueblo from the Albuquerque and a graduate of the
University of New Mexico. Pamela is actively involved in the American
Indian activities of IBM and Tivoli. Seated at the right is Brian White
Eagle, who is HoChunk. who is involved in Pervasive Computing in IBM's
Software Group in Austin, Texas. Brian is a graduate of the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology and was recently elected as a national officer of
INDN for the 2001 year.

At the center of the flyer is part of the IBM team during the AISES
National Conference. The photo includes many of the INDN members,
including Telia Burgess (Blackfeet), who is a Professional Development
Manager in the IBM Sales Center in Atlanta, and Dominic Pruitt (Acoma
Pueblo), who is the current president of INDN. Dominic works in Storage
Management Development with Tivoli in Tucson, Arizona. Al Barela a Program
Manager for IBM's National Recruiting Organization and comes from the Tigua
people of southwest Texas. Al also is a focal point for IBM's relationship
with AISES. Bill Lawrence, who we didn't get on this year's flyer, also
has native ancestry.

----------

I have some very exciting news to share with you about the Native-American
Project View scheduled for January 3rd in Albuquerque, this will require
your help and cooperation to make this years program an even bigger
success, than those held during the last four years. The plan is to include
Native-American students looking for summer and co-op assignments as well
as those looking for regular employment. This program expansion will
provide IBM with a channel to identify students early and follow the same
successful process that we have been using for the last four years to
attract the best and brightest candidates to IBM.
Our plan is to host 75-100 Native-American students from the pool of
regular and summer/co-op pool, we have about a month and a half remaining
before the program and I desperately need the support of the CRM and NRO
Teams to obtain every possible Native-American resume from their campuses
with a sense of urgency. Please contact the Placement Offices as well as
the Minority Student Organizations in effort to identify candidates for
this event.
I have also copied the Executive Board of INDN to solicit their help as
well in this effort, we need to find the brightest and best for this event,
we will not only be hiring candidates for regular assignments but also
making that very important connection for the underclassmen early so that
they too can see IBM's commitment to diversity, and very strong focus on
Native-People.
The process for passing resumes to the Project View Team will be by fax at
919-850-7900, email to Jennifer Chance through notes, or if Jennifer's
email address of chancej@us.ibm.com Jennifer will use other members of the
Project View Team to assist with booking the candidates. US mail can be
sent to the address shown at the bottom of the note.

Thank you in advance for your support, with your help we can make this an
outstanding event. Please feel free to share this information with anyone
that can help with this very important effort.
