Don't be afraid to spray your orchids with a fine spray. Dirty, dusty leaves just invite insects. Just make sure the center (crown) area is dry before night fall. -- posted by Orchidlady » Debbie1 - I don't know what it is.... Hi! I bought my first orchid after reading the articles by Linda Fortner. I don't know what type of orchid it is. It says on the label "Den. Jacquelyn Thomas "Uniwai Mist" It bloomed for 3 weeks, now there is a brown stem where the bloom was. Should I remove that? The plant has more than doubled in size and seems VERY health (except for the disappearance of blooms. I think it is out growing the little container it came in, roots are out all over the place! I've bought more, but none have the same bloom as my first one. Does anyone recognize this label? Thank you.-- posted by Debbie1 » Orchidlady - Den Hello,Dendrobium Jacklyn Thomas is a hybrid that is found all over. It is not uncommon for your Dens to lose leaves and just sit there with "sticks". It seems that it is done blooming, most flowers have fallen off. What now? The leaves are green and still firm. Will it bloom again? Will it remain green for a while, or do blooms happen one after the other. It is not in great light now, we are moving in a couple weeks and will have better light later. Would it prefer morning or afternoon light best? Thanks, ND Should I be concerned. -- posted by ndoron » londade - Need help for orchid to bloom again. I purchased two orchids at the "Green Thumb Festival" at the end of April. They both held their blooms for more than 2 months. They were beautiful! They are doing fine. One even has a new branch of leaves that is as long as the two that were already there. But when will it bloom again? The other is getting a small bud of a new stem. One is a Buranaa Jade #3 which I know nothing about. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have had the plants for 5 months. I water them about once a week by soaking and then allowing it to drain. They are in a south window with morning light.
