Pan's People
This archived discussion is "read only". « Previous 1 2 3 Next » » PanFan - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pan's People In response to message posted by PastPanfan:Hi all! I too was saddened by the lack of stuff on the net about 'the People'. I was prompted to search after seeing all the retro stuff on the box over the last few months. Dee Dee (my favourite!) has certainly had a lot of exposure (in more ways than one). Variously in 'I Love 1974, 'TV Moments from Hell', 'Lipstick Years', 'Platforms at Xmas' - just about every programme about the seventies that's been done in the last year or so! I guess if they were a current phenomenon, there would be dozens of sites dedicated to them. Obviously I guess the lack of material on them is the problem here. I was even going to make my own site to rectify the deficiency (even registered a domain for them) but was faced with the fact that I have next to nothing to put on it! Also I was quite young at the time they were famous, and so didn't really have the wherewithall to find out and collect much about them at the time. My first exposure to them wasn't actually on TOTP, but on what must have been that 'In Concert' special in the early/mid seventies. I think it was on during the Easter holidays? I was mesmerised at the 'pillow dance' routine - luckily I think my dad was too and he stopped my mother who was wanting to switch it off! Seeing the clips of it now - it is provocative even by today's standards. After that I was hooked even though I was only about 9 or 10 at the time - I credit Louise and Dee Dee with advancing the course of puberty by at least two or three years! Seeing all the retro clips on TV brought back all these fond memories of them at the height of their fame.... Btw, does anyone know the name of the music for this pillow dance routine - was it written specially for the programme? I suppose it would be too much to ask if anyone know's where one may get a copy of the 'In Concert' recording? Was it on the BBC? (Maybe the BBC is more open about its archives now. I remember as a kid trying to get copies of stuff from my favourite sci fi shows, and the BBC seemed to treat its archives like the Kremlin would state secrets!) For PastPanFan: Ruth Pearson is now working in a council housing office. Babs went on a round the world yachting tour lately. Lousie Clark is a 'mother and housewife'. Cherry Gillespie is a voiceover artist and runs a gift buying service and Dee Dee is involved with a dance studio and fashion design. Facts from another show last year on Pans People and what they're doing now. Keep the interest going! Regards, Another Pan Fan! PS Congratulations to the guy who put together the freeserve site. Well done, better than I would have been able to do... -- posted by PanFan » PastPanfan - Thanking Panfan /Recent video's if not OLD stuff anyone? Thanks to Panfan for the info re Ruth Pearson, I really did have 'a thing' for her!(still do).Since I am in the middle of nowhere at the bottom end of the planet, I did not get chance to see any of those retrospective TV programmes. Anyone out there willing a loan of a video that might have been taken (I obviously cannot LEGALLY ask for a copy from anyone !!!)..I'll send postage moiney back to old blighty. Although I've only got a bit of video archive maybe a swap could be arranged?! I recently did a BBC hunt for videos. As expected: I reckon best bet would be for Dandridge above (DeeDee's friend) to maybe mention?? see what contacts DeeDee may still have in Beeb could arrange if possible a 'copyright letout' and maybe produce a limited run of the In Concert video for us starved people. This is a very cheeky thing to maybe ask I know but it's a dead end otherwise in many respects, very sad for fans. I know that the InConcert stuff actually is not published anymore because I tried to get an old John Martyn 'In Concert' and thats also now no longer published. However I DO knoew that copyright letouts are very common in the book world for out of print books so maybe it is the same for video material, even for the BBC, given a bit of good faith? I have such fond memories of this group. Thursday night was always Pans People night! Probably the first crush I had on any women was on this troupe - especially Dee Dee. Wasn't first love wonderfull? Anyway I would love to see the girls in action again. You mention you have copies of some of their performances. Would you be prepared to make copies of them? I would pay VERY handsomely. Thanks. -- posted by rigo » Cheshireite - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pan's People In response to messages posted by fans ofPans People can anyone provide me with fairly good video copies of any of their performances or any by Hot Gossip who appeared in The Kenny Everett Show?I had a video released by Hot Gossip in the 80s but its become faulty.Id pay a reasonable price to cover costs.I live in the UK. liscardresident@bushinternet.com In response to posted by : -- posted by Cheshireite » flick72 - Re: Thanking Panfan /Recent video's if not OLD stuff anyone?
