Epazote, a cure for flatulence!Read the article this discussion is about

» Jojo - Gasoline Plant Hi JaredI grew this plant last year -- well out of it's range I'm sure. Is it an annual plant? Regardless of whether the roots live, it's come back from seed all over the place. So not to worry. My question is just for interest. It really does smell like gasoline to me. I have a funny story to share about this plant, but I have to fish it out of my files. It's funny that it's also a cure for flatulence. I used mine in black bean soups and dips. It is delicious, and brings out some really nice flavours even if the beans are slightly burned. -- posted by Jojo » Jojo - Gasoline Plant Story HI JAREDI re-read your article after posting and saw the explanation about annual/perennial. This is the story I was talking about... Peru's Texacoatl Indians keep their cars in good running condition longer than any other indigenous people in South America, according to Technology Review. The journal reported that they mix their gasoline and oil with guazcal, a medicine derived from the guazacahotl plant. I heard that the guazecahotl plant is the same Chenopodium. Have you heard of this? -- posted by Jojo » plantboy - I think with covering this plant will definately perennialize. I think with covering this plant will definately perennialize. As an annual it will definately reseed too. When I lived in Seattle I had one going for quite a while. It is much colder there though I did cover the plant with straw mulch and it was on a south facing wall.-- posted by plantboy
