If the price of the stock hits the strike price at expiration then the (writer) loses the stock at the strike price. One can also buy back the option to cancel his position. One can also sell a call without owning the stock and is then considered (naked) Not all houses allow this. Two sides to an Option! VBOLHH -- posted by TONYBRIG » TONYBRIG - More on Covered Calls This link seems to contrdict what Santoliwrites bout in Barrons. Thanks to Kirk who first posted it. I will attempt to get a dialogue going with Santoli on Options! http://www.ez-pnf.com/maxpain.htm VBOLHH -- posted by TONYBRIG » TONYBRIG - Intc Options Intc reports earnings I believe next week.Options also expire next friday 7/16th Remember......... always the 3rd friday of the month. The option market is bullish on INTC! The 70 call is selling for around 5/8-3/4. Intc's price is around 66 and with only 5 days to go the Option market is betting on it going to 70. I'm long on INTC common and am considering writing some Covered Calls. Writing a call= Selling a call Writing a covered call = Selling the call and owning the underlying Stock One covered call allowed for each 100 shares. Covered Call means the broker is covered........... Your aint Naked! If INTC's Stock closes over 70 on expiration date by 1/2 pt (circa) the chances are very good that you will lose the Stock at the strike price...... 70? or whatever you choose. Naked means you dont own the underlying Stock; some houses wont allow you to be in the Nude! : ) Easy huh? Of course one can go out in time and pick any strike price and month that carries an Option. Some go out a few years (LEAPS) Now you just got to decide whats rite for you.......... or not. Wonder what Santoli thinks?
