BAH HUMBUG

In response to message posted by Steve28:I was going through all the postings from yesteryear and was reminded of all the heavy topics that used to be discussed. Now, the only active threads seemed concerned about religion. I check this site on a daily basis while at work, and I'm finding myself not being able to contribute much anymore. Right you are, steve, although I'd say its religiosity that's being talked about, since the root meaning of religion is "what binds together." The temperature dropped enough last night to bring the ferns in, I put a snowflake screensaver on and played some tinkly Christmas tunes. whoopee... <img src="/files/mysites/ploxpage/reindeer4_wreathswing_md_clr.gif" width=100 height=150 align="right"> -- posted by plox » plox - religiosity is boring In response to message posted by paper_turtle:I glanced in several times and saw the usual monomaniacs. The unsure trying to convince themselves that they are less unworthy than someone. The powerless trying to gain power. The natural followers looking for someone to follow. Sometimes it's funny and sometimes not. -- posted by plox » BrotherJones - Re: religiosity is boring hi sister plox, well since we seem to agree on something here, i want to thank you for all the many posts you gave this last year. you have encouraged lots of folk with your style of writing. you may be the best among us, and i hope You are as appreciated in your place as you are here. -- posted by BrotherJones » jmneil - Plox for burning BrotherJones:I second that emotion about sister plox. Paper_Turtle I know how you feel about nothing but gawd, gawd, gawd, so I decided to just go in and post anyway. I suppose we could start a series of secular threads, in fact that'll be my resolution this New Years: come up with a series of secular threads of mutual interest. Maybe: Great Movies, Ideal Vacation Spots, Thorny Issues, Why I like ... , Etc. Plox Keep on truckin' -- posted by jmneil » plox - Re: Plox burned out In response to message posted by jmneil:Thank you and Bubba very much for the kind words. And yep, I'm trucking somewhat better since my 16 year old Chevy pickup came out of the shop this week running on all six cylinders again. I've had it since a Christmas 16 years ago. I like it. Tiger2001, my truck is older than you are and you think you can assign me homework!?! crash!!Wump!!@#*%#@ (sound of plox falling off pedestal) -- posted by plox » paper_turtle - Re: Plox for burning In response to message posted by jmneil:that'll be my resolution this New Years: come up with a series of secular threads of mutual interest Thank you, John!!!!! That would be a wonderful gift. My warmest wishes to you and yours for a Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year. Peace and Love, -- posted by paper_turtle » IM1B4U - Re: Christmas cards In response to message posted by plox:Hi plox. I thibk suite101 was just getting in the mood of this topic. I am visualising the 'Lost In Space' computer speaking to Will "..Danger, danger, Merry Christmas...does not compute...Bah Humbug...Bah Humbug...all systems OK" Well, our State currently has over 100 bushfires raging, many of them deliberately lit and some dangerously close to my family. My sister has lost her voice through smoke inhalation - the only indulgence she and many others here had on Christmas Day. Many homes destroyed but thankfully no lives lost yet. We've effectively lost one of our oldest national parks (80% so far) where the ferocity of the firestorms make regrowth unlikely but only time will tell. The first time known that bushfires made their way from the Blue Mountains to the sea. Not helped by at times inaccessible areas, 100km winds and 30 degree summer heat. Unusually, backburning did not help limit the spread as the flames leapt back over areas only burnt hours before by the same bushfire. Maybe this is nature's way of saying Bah Humbug...unless of course it's the antichrist at work but that's another topic...
