» JeanT - I wonder how many dog owners have heard of the Pfizer "miracle d I wonder how many dog owners have heard of the Pfizer "miracle drug" Rimadyl? I learned through a devasting experience with my Chocolate Lab George, what the adverse side effects could do!To learn more about this drug and what to look for in the way of severe side effects, go to the Senior Dogs Project Web site and go to the sections on Rimadyl. Thanks. Jean -- posted by JeanT » Classicalmuse_k - Hip dysplasia I've been giving my German Shepherd Rimadyl for years now. 50mg twice a day. He never appears to be in any pain. I just wish it had been around for all my other big dogs who had hip problems. If it's not a lifesaver, it is, at least, a life prolonger.....life with quality.-- posted by Classicalmuse_k » SummerSadie - The other side... My ten year old Shep-Mix was on Rimadyl for about 6 months last year, while it seemed that her pain was abated, she began having severe stomach problems. When we found blood in her stool and vomit we discontinued its use. It took another two months to get her healthy again. She is fine now and we treat her arthritis with heat packs and massage (especially when it's cold out)and Nikki loves it! I understand that a lot of dogs have no problem using this "miracle drug" but I won't subject another animal with it's use.-- posted by SummerSadie » Classicalmuse_k - Before Rimadyl My other shepherd had HD in both hips--really bad. This was before Rimadyl. Her vet operated and took out both hip joints. She got back to the point of a slow run without any apparent pain. She was about 11 then. There was a lot of recupe time though. If a person can't stay home with their pet during this time, he shouldn't have it done. -- posted by Classicalmuse_k
