Mine's only half my base pay. That's without BAQ, and other allowances. It's not much, but it makes the house payment with a little left over. Don't forget to use your educational benefits before they expire. Mine expired a bit ago, but my wife's job gets me half-price tuition. My Graduate Assistant position paid all my tuition, but after last term, I didn't have enough classes to make the minimum requirement to keep the GA benefits. If I get the night job I've applied for, I'll get all my tuition paid for again. (After this term, I'll have two more classes for my MA in history.)

Retirement's OK, but it's a whole new way of life. It's not really retirement: you'll probably still have to get a job.
