» GaRu1 - I did not respond
to this thread, because I had nothing to say. But somewhere in my mind it must have recorded.Wasn't Toulouse Le Trec a Dwarf?
he was something else!. . A great artist, that much I recall, But one of them (great artists) was a dwarf.
I am not going to go to the effort of testing my memory for accuracy. I know Le Trec was a great man, Dwarf or not.
I wonder if "artistic genius" would ever be a valid reason for abortion?
P.S. please do not post a message telling me I was wrong and Toulouse Le Trec was a Hunch back, or a Cripple, and not a Dwarf. I know WHO he was.
What, is irrelevant.

» QuartzNH - Problems other than short statured
Yes, when someone has dwarfism, there are usually psychical problems. It depends on the type of dwarfism, and what's related. My type of dwarfism is a little rare compared to your average Achondroplasia. I have what you call, Spondyloepiphyseal Dysplaisia Congentia. A big word for a small person. Some of the conditions related to my dwarfism, is Cleft Palate, problems with the spine, hearing loss (due to cleft palate) Detached Retina should be checked for every year, and other difficulties. If you would like to learn more about Dwarfism I encourage you to check out LPAonline.org LPA is Little People of America.-- posted by QuartzNH
» syringa - Hi
I just had to reply, because the description you give here rings so many bells with this guy I work with. I am working in Germany at the moment, and this guy is definitely the smarest and wittiest person on our team imho. He looks about the same size as you say, but he is mostly confined to a wheelchair, as his legs aren't very strong. His joints are also a slightly odd shape, most noticeable on his hands, as they are visible in the normal course of work. But the thing that probably presents the greatest difficulty for him, certainly for work purposes, is the cleft palate. German seems to be a particularly tough language to articulate with this condition. At first I felt sorry for him, in meetings and such, as he had such trouble getting across what he wanted to say, but now I know him better, I just can't stop laughing at his jokes for long enough for any pity to be left! He is one VERY cool dude! He also has a scar from a cleft lip op, and I was wondering if these other problems are par for the course for your condition, or whether he may have some other form of dwarfism? And as for these conditions being a handicap, if you are anything like as tough, smart and positive as Michael, you have avery bright future ahead of you!-- posted by syringa
