First off, I ask that you please excuse the recent inactivity of this topic. I have been extremely busy in recent weeks with work and personal matters. As a resident of the D.C. area, with many friends and relatives in and around New York City, I also have been preoccupied by the recent tragedies. I extend my heartfelt sympathy to everyone in the Suite101 community during this time of peril, particularly to those who may have lost loved ones in the Sept. 11 tragedies. My prayers are with all of you.
As we have been reminded time and again since the attacks, we will never be the same people we once were. God willing, however, we will remain more united, compassionate and mindful of our freedoms and our obligation to uphold them.

I now am back posting articles on Suite101...and hope to continue doing so for some time to come. The following is a short piece inspired by my years as a bus-bound, movie and tv-crazed teen attending high school in the D.C. suburbs. I thank you very much for reading!
