On returning to our ship after our Pompeii adventures, my mother and I are surprised and delighted to find an invitation for dinner with the Captain. But first we spend a morning in Messina,Sicily an ancient town, rebuilt many times due to earthquakes from the smouldering Mt Etna and the 2nd world war. The cathedral, the bell tower, all reconstructed, are worth seeing. The bell tower has the world's largest astronomical mechanical clock. At noon, tiny figures march around the tower as the clock strikes twelve. Messina is a picture pretty place, set in beautiful natural surroundings. Then comes " Dinner with the Captain" a small dinner party in which my mother and I are included. A fun evening was had by all. And guess who got to sit beside the Captain. Please join me. Lots of instant links. Feel free to make comments in my discussion area. Mary Ellen
