This speculative science studies Unknown Mysterious Animals, UMAs, also referred to as cryptids. Dr. Bernard Heuvelmans is the Father of Cryptozoology. Cryptids are found in all continents except Antarctica. They can be animals unknown to science, those thought to be extinct or those sighted in places outside of their natural habitat.
The Americas have Florida’s Skunk Apes and Napes, thought to be Big Foot’s relatives, and the Latin American Onza mystery cat. The Bunyip stalks the marshes and waters of Austrailia. Europe is home to the Morag, Scotland’s kin to the Loch Ness monster, Nessie. The winged African Popobawa is a relatively new cryptid, first sighted in 1972.The Almas is a Eurasian hairy biped that some believe is related to the Yeti.
