NASCAR 101

By T Sampson

Introduction

Have you ever wondered what the race announcers were talking about when they say that the No. 20 car is tight coming off, or loose in the middle? Do you have any idea what a “round of bite” is? If you are kind of hazy on either one of these questions, then you will be glad that you enrolled in Suite101.com’s NASCAR 101 Course.

A NASCAR fan should not have to feel intimidated by the technical and sometimes 'off-the-wall' terms used to describe different aspects of the sport. It’s kind of like football, once you learn what they are talking about, being a fan is a whole new ball game (no pun intended).

When I first became a stock car racing fan, I didn’t have the foggiest idea what they were talking about half of the time. I had to ask others who usually didn’t know either, or just had to guess and wing it through figuring I would learn what were referring to sooner or later. There were no instructions available to new fans or even diehard fans who were still trying to figure out some of the racing jargon.

As stock car racing progresses and NASCAR learns and adapts to the constantly changing modern technology, racing is becoming more and more technical. As this happens, the terms and jargon gets much more complicated than it was back in the early 1950’s and '60’s when racing was a lot simpler.

Take the NASCAR 101 course and face the racing season with more anticipation and confidence than you have ever had before.
