Teaching Writing: Children

Introduction

Are you an elementary grade teacher looking for some ideas for teaching writing to your class? Are you a new teacher, just getting started and hoping to add some ideas to your "bag of tricks?" Are you a homeschool parent wanting to enhance the writing skills that you are teaching your child? Or are you someone who just loves kids and writing? If so, this course if for you.

Teaching Writing to Children is a general course that will give you ways to get your kids writing right away. Specific topics include two of the four basic writing genre: narration (all children love to tell stories!) and description (adding detail to their writing will help students' work come alive).

For those who are interested in more, the genres of expository writing (all those real-life types of writing that give information) and persuasion (kids are always trying to get their point across) are covered in Teaching Writing to Children - Part Two.

In this course there are also lessons on some writing basics on and using journals (one of my main stays in school - they are so versatile). In each lesson you will also find teaching ideas, ways to present or display student work, and some of my favorite writing links.

So, if you are ready to make writing a real part of your students' daily routine, join us for Teaching Writing to Children.
