China

The history of China spans over 4,000 years, but the country is very much a modern success story.

Modern China, known as The People's Republic of China, is the world's most populous country, with 1.33 billion people comprising nearly 20% of the world's population. China's population is more than 4 times larger than the USA's, housed on a land mass of almost the same size. About 20 million people live in Beijing, the capital city of China.

Estimates say there are more than 100 million Buddhists in China, the country's major religion. It is believed at least that many are advocates of Chinese Astrology.

China's recent rapid economic growth has seen it overtake Japan to become the world's second largest economy, behind only the USA. Tourism is one of the many growing business areas in China
